Pacific Railroad Act
The federal statute of July 1, 1862, the purpose of which was to aid in the construction, maintenance, and operation of railroad and telegraph lines over routes specified, to promote the public interest and welfare, and to secure to the government the use of the same for postal, military, and other purposes. 52 Am J1st Teleg & T § 26.
