accident insurance
A policy or contract of insurance whereunder the insurer agrees to pay to the insured or a beneficiary named in the policy a stated sum for disability of the insured incurred by accident, for the death of the insured caused by accident, for the loss suffered by the insured through accident of a leg, arm, or other member of the body, or, in the terms of some policies, a stated sum upon the sustaining of any of such losses by accidental means.
