business name

The name under which a business is operated. In the case of an individual, it may be his real name or an assumed or ficticious name. In the case of a partnership, the business name may be a combination of the names of the partners or an assumed or business name. In the case of a business corporation, the name is provided by the articles of incorporation. See trade name. business of banking, See banking.
